How to follow this book

Understanding a program involves more than recognising its words. Reading, running and changing an example connects the explanation on the page with the behaviour of the program.

Work with the examples

Begin with a short explanation and read the Python example before running it. Predict the output, change one thing, and explain what happened. Each lesson develops a concept before using it in a mini project and an independent coding challenge.

Follow the learning sequence

The introduction guides you through installation, the Python interpreter, first programs, IPython and package (reusable code supplied for a particular task) installation. Then come basic concepts, collections, control flow, functions, modules, object-oriented programming and advanced topics. Applications grow as the necessary language features become familiar.

Use AI deliberately

When a difficulty remains after your own attempt, ask an AI assistant for one hint or an explanation of one line. Compare its answer with the task and with results you can check yourself. Every activity also has a route without a live AI account.

Reading and practice

Reading pages provide book search, a chapter outline, section navigation, a full-chapter option, text size and a dark theme. Runnable Python workspaces accompany suitable practice; essential explanation and code remain readable without them.
