Control Flow
Collections organise the information in a program. Control flow determines what the program does with that information: which instructions run, under which conditions, and how often.
Control flow determines which statements run and in what order. Conditions choose a path; loops repeat actions. For example, a weather app uses control flow to decide whether to display a rain alert, a sunshine icon, or a temperature warning based on live weather data. The order can therefore depend on the data rather than always following one fixed sequence. In this module, you’ll learn how Python evaluates conditions, executes specific code blocks, and loops through data until certain criteria are met.
In this module, you will learn how to:
- Make decisions using if, elif, and else statements.
- Simplify conditional logic with the match statement (Python 3.10+).
- Repeat actions using while and for loops.
- Manage loop behavior effectively with break, continue, and pass.
By the end of this chapter, you will understand how to control the order in which your code runs, which is a key step toward building interactive and logical Python programs.
